Creating and Living a Philosophy of Learning is an exercise that is essential to our commitment of pursuing quality early learning and care. It is the beacon that lights our way in ensuring that we are thoughtful and intentional in our experiences with children, families, our community and with each other. This year's recipient proved an impressive reflection of how their philosophy has been created, what it represents, and how they continue to support it. While there were many significant elements. the one that most stood out is: "The Program's commitment to striving to expose children to learning experiences that will develop their natural curiosity and love to learn. Their security with a sense of belonging to a world that is interesting to them.... and is interested in them

In 2007, the Whistle Stop Preschool received an Award of Excellence in the area of Partnership with Families. Paraphrased below is the high regard given to the school:

This award recognizes the child care program's ability to gather and review information about the families they serve; to share info with families; to orient families to the program; to demonstrate a respect for individual culture and the unique identity of a family; and the ability to involve families in the program, policies and evaluation of the centre.

In 2006, the Whistle Stop Preschool received an Award of Excellence in the area of Program Philosophy. Paraphrased below is the high regard given to the school:

Program evaluation involves looking at program delivery with an objective eye, soliciting feedback from the key stakeholders and making changes that improve the curriculum, facility and ultimately early childhood experiences for children. The Whistle Stop Preschool works closely with parents, including a volunteer Board of Directors.
