This section has information for parents of the Whistle Stop Preschool.

Weather Cancellations

The Whistle Stop Preschool will close on days of severe inclement weather. If the Aberfoyle Public School is closed, then the Whistle Stop Preschool will also be closed.

Code of Ethics

The Whistle Stop Preschool has adopted a code of ethics to which all teachers, and other adults working with the students, shall abide.

In Relation to the Children, I will:
  1. Act in the Best Interest of the Children
  2. Protect Children from bullying and abusive actions from both family and other children.
  3. Create and maintain safe, healthy environments that enhance children's learning development, self-worth, dignity, and initiative, as well as show respect for their contributions.
  4. Acknowledge the uniqueness of all children.
  5. Work to ensure children and families with additional needs can exercise their rights.
  6. Respect the special relationships between children and their families.
  7. Ensure that children are not discriminated against on the basis of gender, age, culture, economic status, family structure, language, national origin, or abilities.
  8. Honour the children's right to play as both process and part of learning.
In Relationship to Families, I will:

  1. Develop positive relationships based on open communication and mutual trust.
  2. Help each family to develop a sense of belonging in regards to the program.
  3. Acknowledge the rights of the families to make decisions about their children.
  4. Respect the uniqueness of the families and strive to learn about their lifestyle, culture, customs and beliefs.
  5. Maintain the confidentiality and respect the rights of the family to privacy.
